To celebrate 2000 years since the birth of the Emperor Vespasian or, if you prefer, Titus Flavius Vespasianus, Rome is holding a unique exhibition at the Colosseum dedicated entirely to the emperor and the Flavian dynasty he founded.

Unlike previous exhibitions which were confined to the inner halls of the Colosseum, the exhibition ‘Divus Vespasianus – Il Bimillenario dei Flavi’ (The God Vespasian – the Bi-millenium of the Flavians) quite literally leads the visitor on a pilgrimage to the remaining monumental locations that can be attributed to the three Emperors of the dynasty: Vespasian (69-79AD), Titus (79-81AD) and Domitian (81-96AD).

One can explore the urban development and the monumental contributions of the Flavians: the arches of Titus and Domitian, the Horrea Vespasiani, the temple of Divus Vespasianus, the Equus Domitiani and much more, including the Colosseum itself.

The exhibition runs from 27 March 2009 until 10 January 2010.

Rome’s Museum of Etruscan Civilisation - Museo Nazionale Etrusco di Villa Giulia - is hosting a unique exhibition of Etruscan themed comic books conceived by the archeaological services of southern Etruria (northern Lazio). The show has the backing of the Lazio region and was relized with the assistance of Civita, a cultural association and Comicon, one of Rome’s biggest comic expos.

Six comicbook artists - the most famous being Milo Manara, plus Francesco Cattani, Marino Neri, Paolo Parisi, Michele Petrucci, Alessandro Rak, Claudio Stassi - have dreamed up stories recreating life in ancient Etruria, the land of the Etruscans.

The show is running at the Necropoli and Etruscan Museums of Cerveteri and Tarquinia as well as the Villa Giulia museum in Rome (situated on the north side of Villa Borghese park), with the work of two artists appearing at each site.
